Lava International introduced the first device in the Xolo series in April 2012 with the launch of the Xolo X900. This was the first smartphone in the World to come with an Intel Medfield processor.
Intel recently unveiled the Intel Atom Lexington Z2420 chipset at CES 2013, paving the way for low cost phones powered by its mobile platform. The Xolo X500 is one of the first devices to feature this processor.
The new Lava Xolo X500 is powered by Intel Atom Z2420 processor clocking at 1.2GHz paired with Intel’s hyper-threading technology along with 512MB of RAM. Being a cheaper alternative to the Xolo X900, the new smartphone features a smaller, 3.5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels.

Its 400 MHz GPU supports 1080p HD video playback as well. At the rear is a 5MP camera that supports burst mode, allowing up to 7 photos to be captured in a second. It comes with a 1500 mAh battery and an internal memory of 4GB, external memory is expandable up to 32GB.
While there are plenty of phones based on Mediatek's chip that are feature packed and come in the same price range, we try to find out if Intel and Xolo have a winner this time.
