Toys R Us is launching its own tablet designed for children, to be sold exclusively at its stores, as the world's largest specialty toy retailer gears up to battle online and big box retailers in the holiday season.
The tablet is being referred to as ‘Tabeo’. It will make its debut in the tablet market on October 21. It will be loaded with child-friendly apps and integrated controls that allow parents to customize levels of Internet access for each family member.

The Tabeo Tablet will feature a seven-inch screen size capable tablet, using Wi-Fi and running on the Android operating system, includes 50 free, preinstalled apps designed for children.The tablet has a 1-gigahertz ARM Cortex A8 processor and 1 gigabyte of RAM. The Tabeo has 4 GB of storage that can be expanded to 32GB through a Micro SD card slot. It also includes a Mini-HDMI port and comes with a front-facing camera.
As per the sources, some of the popular apps and games bundled include Angry Birds, Temple Run, Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope and ‘istorybooks’ book apps.
A total of 20 games come preloaded as do 10 educational apps, about a dozen entertainment apps and a couple of book apps as well.
